"ये इश्क़ नहीं आसाँ": In Odisha horror, Samir Mansoor befriends Hindu girl via online game, hides his religion, rapes her in hotel, force her to convert to Islam in a love jihad case, blackmails with videos & extorts ₹5 lakh from her family before arrest
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Sameer Mansur, is originally from Bihar and has reportedly been working as a technician in Jammu and Kashmir. The woman involved is employed with a travel agency based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. According to police reports, Sameer allegedly established contact with the woman, who hails from Kujang in the Jagatsinghpur district, through an online gaming platform in 2022. In the initial stages of their acquaintance, he is said to have hidden his real name and religion, introducing himself as "Sameer Kumar" from Bihar.

Their connection grew over several months, during which they engaged in frequent phone conversations. In March 2024, Mansur traveled to Odisha to meet the woman in person. During this visit, he took her to a hotel room, where he reportedly raped her and recorded videos of the incident without her consent. Following this encounter, he allegedly began to pressure her to convert to Islam and marry him, attempting to use emotional manipulation to achieve his goals.
Their relationship continued with a visit to Puri, where the woman claimed that Sameer reportedly compelled her to engage in further physical relations. However, it was during this period that she discovered the deception regarding his identity and religion. After confronting him, Mansur admitted he was from Bihar but had spent a considerable amount of his life in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite her resistance, Mansur allegedly continued to press her to convert to Islam and marry him.
Realizing that she had been misled about his identity, the woman began to distance herself from him and firmly refused to change her faith. Mansur, reportedly angered by her refusal, resorted to threats of blackmail. He allegedly began to intimidate her with the photos and videos he had taken, warning her that he would upload these to pornographic websites if she did not comply with his demands. Furthermore, the woman disclosed that Mansur extorted ₹5,00,000 from her family, leveraging these threats to exert financial pressure.
After leaving Odisha, Sameer did not cease his attempts to intimidate and manipulate the woman into marrying him. He continued to contact her persistently, frequently calling her and issuing threats in an effort to pressure her into marriage. When she eventually stopped responding to his phone calls, he resorted to a more invasive tactic. Sameer allegedly created a fake Instagram account and uploaded objectionable videos of the woman on this platform, further escalating his efforts to coerce her. In addition to these actions, sources reported that he extorted an additional sum of ₹5 lakh from the woman’s father, threatening to upload her videos to other social media sites if his demands were not met.
Distressed and seeking help, the woman approached the Mahila Police, who promptly intervened to assist her in taking down the fake Instagram account. However, even after this intervention, Sameer did not relent. He allegedly continued his harassment, remaining a persistent threat in her life. Recently, he contacted the woman once again, informing her of his intention to visit Bhubaneswar and insisting that she meet with him. Along with this, he issued threats of "dire consequences" should she fail to comply with his demand to meet him, heightening her fears for her safety.
Alarmed and fearing for her life, the victim sought assistance from the city police. With coordination between Mahila Police and special squad officers, law enforcement managed to apprehend Sameer in Cuttack upon his arrival in the state on Friday. Media reports have confirmed that the woman filed a formal complaint at the Bhubaneswar Women’s Police Station, recounting the entire sequence of events.

The complaint outlined that the victim, originally from the Kujang Police Station area of Jagatsinghpur district, came into contact with Mansur in 2022 while playing the popular online game, “Free Fire.” During their initial interactions, Sameer allegedly concealed his religious background. Over time, however, the two became closer, leading to a relationship that would later reveal layers of deceit and manipulation.
The victim's complaint provides further details about her harrowing experience. She mentioned that Mansoor is originally from Champaran, Bihar, and works as an electrician in Jammu and Kashmir. When he began to blackmail her family, using threats and coercion, the victim spiraled into depression. In her statement to the authorities, she expressed a strong desire for justice, demanding strict action against Sameer Mansoor. Her plea for intervention set the police on a path to launch a full investigation into the case.
In her formal complaint, the woman stated, “He forced me to convert and marry him. When I refused to convert, he made some of our intimate moments viral and blackmailed my father.” This powerful statement, captured in her FIR, highlights the severe emotional and psychological toll she endured as a result of Mansoor’s actions.

The victim’s lawyer, Sanghamitra Rajguru, explained that the woman had initially developed feelings for Mansoor, unaware of his true religious identity. According to Rajguru, the man had concealed his surname and introduced himself simply as "Samir." On his visits to Odisha, Mansoor took her to Puri, where she eventually discovered his actual religious background. This revelation became a turning point, as her refusal to marry him following this discovery led to a dark turn in their interactions.
Rajguru further detailed the extent of Mansoor's coercion: “When she refused to marry her after knowing his religion, he forced her into a physical relationship and made a video of those intimate moments. He then persuaded her to change her religion and marry him, while threatening to make the videos viral.” Mansoor's actions, as described by her lawyer, show the repeated efforts he made to pressure her into conversion and marriage.
Additionally, Rajguru stated that Mansoor extorted a sum of ₹5 lakh from her parents, using the threat of uploading these intimate videos onto a pornographic website as leverage.
