On the evening of Thursday in Dhing, Nagaon, a grievous crime was perpetrated against a minor Hindu girl, a Class X student, who was returning home from her tuition classes. Between the hours of 7 and 8 pm, she was reportedly assaulted by three men. The police have relayed that after the assault, the attackers left her unconscious and exposed by the roadside in the Borbheti area. It was nearly an hour later that the minor girl was found by locals, who were appalled by the severity of the scene.
The community's response was immediate and forceful. Residents, horrified by the viciousness of the attack, initiated an indefinite bandh starting Friday, demanding the swift capture and prosecution of all involved. The local police have so far arrested two of the accused in connection with this heinous act, while one suspect remains at large, evading capture.
During a press interaction, State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the incident with a stern promise: "The person who committed the heinous crime against the minor girl will not be spared." His words reflect the gravity of the situation and the government's commitment to justice.

The officers facilitated the immediate transfer of the victim to the Dhing First Referral Unit (FRU) for urgent medical care. The severity of her condition necessitated a subsequent transfer to the Nagaon Civil Hospital, where she received further medical treatment, highlighting the critical nature of her injuries.
Further investigation by the police revealed chilling details about the assault. According to their reports, the attackers were riding a motorcycle when they noticed the minor girl.
