According to reports, Rabiya Khatun, a resident of Hill View Balukhad Ward No. 2 in Margherita, was admitted to the hospital around 11:30 a.m. on September 17 under the care of gynecologist Dr. Selix Alam. However, despite being the attending doctor, Dr. Alam allegedly advised her family to take her immediately to Cherish Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Margherita, citing her critical condition.

The victim’s husband, Sahadat Ali, recounted the horrifying experience, stating that after following Dr. Alam’s recommendation, they rushed his pregnant wife to Cherish Hospital and Diagnostic Centre with the expectation that she would receive proper medical attention. However, Dr. Selix Alam did not arrive at the facility for several hours, leaving the critically ill patient unattended.

Realizing the worsening condition of Rabiya Khatun, Dr. Abdul Halim, proprietor of Cherish Hospital, decided to transfer her to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh. However, before she could reach AMCH, she tragically passed away en route. The entire episode has left the family devastated, and serious questions have been raised about the professional conduct and medical ethics of Dr. Alam.

Enraged by the gross negligence, Sahadat Ali has demanded strict action against Dr. Alam, calling for the cancellation of his medical license and his arrest to prevent further cases of irresponsibility.
