"अंदाज़-ए-मोहब्बत": Priyanka, a Hindu girl from Sultanpur, was brutally strangled to death by Salman, Shahenshah, Sarwar, and Javed after she demanded marriage, all four arrested in a dramatic police encounter with illegal weapons in their possession
In a tragic and disturbing incident, the body of a young Hindu girl was found last month, on the 21st of September, in an abandoned condition in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The girl, later identified as Priyanka, had been missing for several months. She was last seen on 31st May, and her disappearance had left her family in distress, desperately searching for her. It was a day that turned the family's world upside down, as their loved one had simply vanished without a trace. "The victim had gone missing from her house since 31st May," reports confirmed.

The accused in this heinous crime were identified as Salman, Shahenshah, Javed, and Sarwar—a group of individuals whose names would soon become associated with a chilling crime. Initially, only Shahenshah was arrested, but as the investigation progressed, the authorities were able to apprehend the remaining culprits. On 1st October, the Uttar Pradesh Police succeeded in nabbing Salman, Javed, and Sarwar after an encounter. The swift action of the police in this case offered a glimmer of hope for justice, although nothing could compensate for the immense loss suffered by the victim’s family.
The incident took place in the Kadipur police station area of Sultanpur district, a region now synonymous with this horrifying crime. It all started on 1st June, when the victim's grandfather, distraught with worry, registered a complaint at the local police station. His granddaughter, Priyanka, had left their home the previous night on 31st May around 10 pm, saying she needed to answer nature's call. Unfortunately, she never returned. "The family searched extensively for their daughter but could not find her," as the police report reveals. It was a heart-wrenching time for the family, with their worst fears slowly turning into reality.
The grandfather, filled with a sense of foreboding, suspected foul play right from the beginning. "The grandfather of the deceased suspected that someone might have lured her and taken her with him," the complaint noted. His suspicions, unfortunately, turned out to be true. Upon his plea, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on 1st June and immediately started their investigation into the missing person’s case.
The investigation took a significant turn when an unidentified body was discovered in the Gosaiganj police station area of Sultanpur. The authorities quickly got to work, and the subsequent post-mortem examination revealed a shocking truth—the deceased had been strangled to death. This horrifying detail shed light on the brutal manner in which the victim, later identified as Priyanka, was killed. With this revelation, the police intensified their efforts and promptly added murder charges to the case of her disappearance. As the investigation unfolded, the involvement of Salman, Shahenshah, Sarwar, and Javed in the crime was uncovered. The cold and calculated actions of these individuals began to come to light during the inquiry.

As the police delved deeper into the case, they discovered that Priyanka and Salman had been in a relationship for an extended period of time. "The police learned that the girl and Salman had a long relationship," officials reported. Their relationship was not a fleeting affair; in fact, Salman had even taken her to Mumbai once, a significant detail that came out during the investigation. After their return from Mumbai, Priyanka and Salman continued to meet, and this ultimately led to the tragic sequence of events that followed.
Sarwar, Shahenshah, and Javed played an active role in facilitating the meeting between the two. The trio helped make the arrangements for Priyanka and Salman to stay together in the Gosaiganj area, where Priyanka began to pressure Salman into marrying her. The relationship, which had once seemed consensual and promising, took a darker turn as Priyanka started "to push Salman for marriage," a demand that Salman was unwilling to meet.
When her attempts to secure a commitment from Salman were met with refusal, Priyanka’s frustrations mounted. Feeling betrayed, she threatened the group, warning them of the potential legal consequences of their actions. "The girl even threatened to send Salman and his three friends to jail after he refused," according to the case details. This statement marked the turning point in the tragic series of events.
In response to her threats, the four men devised a sinister plan to eliminate Priyanka. What began as a relationship between two individuals spiraled into a deadly conspiracy. The group "came up with a plan to get rid of Priyanka," driven by their fear of her threats. The plot they orchestrated was merciless and calculated, leading to Priyanka's eventual murder. After strangling her to death, they disposed of her body in a remote and deserted location within the Gosainganj police station region. Their plan, aimed at silencing Priyanka forever, only revealed the depth of their cruelty.
The police intensified their search for the culprits following the discovery of Priyanka’s body. Their relentless efforts soon bore fruit when Shahenshah was the first one to be caught. His arrest marked a significant step forward in the investigation, but the authorities knew the case was far from closed. The hunt for the other three offenders—Salman, Sarwar, and Javed—continued, and the police remained vigilant in tracking their movements.
On 1st October, the police received a crucial tip-off. The information pointed them toward the Akhandnagar police station area, where the remaining three criminals were reportedly hiding. The police acted swiftly, launching a raid on the location with the hope of apprehending the suspects. However, as soon as the offenders spotted the police approaching, they opened fire. "The criminals started shooting as soon as they spotted the cops," the report confirmed. It was a tense and dangerous situation, but the police were prepared for such a response.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Salman, Sarwar, and Javed were injured as the police retaliated with force. Their injuries ultimately led to their capture, bringing an end to the violent standoff. The successful arrest of the three men following the shootout marked another significant victory for the police in this case, but it was only the beginning of the next phase of justice.
After their arrest, all three criminals were immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment. "All of them were captured and brought to the hospital for treatment," according to the official police report. While they were receiving treatment for their injuries, the police conducted further investigations, which led to the discovery of cartridges and illegal weapons in the possession of the offenders. This finding added to the severity of their crimes, indicating that they were not only responsible for Priyanka's murder but were also involved in other illicit activities.
The criminals are now set to face justice, with plans to bring them before the court to answer for their actions. Their arrest is a testament to the determination of the police to see this case through to the end. The legal proceedings that follow will be closely watched, as the family and the wider community await justice for Priyanka. "Further inquiry and legal action into the matter is now underway," ensuring that the case will continue to unfold as the authorities dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
