"एक चेहरे पर कई चेहरे": 'Nationalist' Aquib Mir, posing as 'Ravi Rajput,' tricked Anna Jain, forced her into a nikah, looted her of 50 lakhs, and beat her daily to wear a hijab; publicly claims secular while privately enforcing strict Islamic practices
In a shocking incident that has sparked widespread condemnation on social media, a video has emerged showing Aquib Mir from Jammu and Kashmir purportedly assaulting his wife with a mooda. The footage reveals disturbing scenes of Mir allegedly engaged in a violent act against his spouse, raising serious concerns about domestic abuse and deception.

Aquib Mir, accused of adopting a false Hindu identity to win the trust of a married Hindu woman, is said to have lured her into a nikah—an Islamic marital contract—under deceitful circumstances. According to sources, Mir exploited this trust to manipulate his wife into financial transactions that were solely beneficial to him. These included compelling her to transfer her life savings and sell her personal jewellery, which he then reportedly used to purchase property.
The plight of the victim came to light through a social media user named Sonia Sisodia, who was approached for help. Sonia facilitated the public sharing of the distressing video, which captures Mir's alleged physical aggression. The footage shows him using a mooda—a traditional wooden tool used in grinding spices—to physically assault his wife. This brutal act has led to an outcry among netizens, with many calling for immediate and stringent action against such heinous behavior.
The saga of deception involving Aquib Mir further unfolds as details emerge from the FIR filed by the victim, Anna Jain. According to her distressing testimony, Jain was already navigating a turbulent personal life—married with a son and coping with her husband's severe medical conditions that left her emotionally vulnerable. It was during this tumultuous period that Mir, masquerading as a Hindu named Ravi Rajput, initiated contact with her via Instagram in 2021. Their connection gradually deepened, evolving from friendship to something more intimate.
In her detailed complaint, Jain disclosed that her husband was battling alcoholism and that they had been separated due to his addiction issues. It was in this context of personal despair that Mir presented himself as a beacon of support and understanding. He crafted a backstory for his assumed identity, claiming that his employment in defense necessitated discretion which supposedly prevented him from maintaining official social media profiles. This explanation led him to justify the creation and use of a parody account for their interactions.
As their relationship grew, Mir adeptly wove a narrative of secrecy and necessity around his false identity. The victim recounted to Sonia Sisodia, who later helped bring the case to light, that Mir had portrayed himself as an employee of Union Minister Rajnath Singh, further lending credibility to his fabricated persona. This elaborate deceit not only garnered Jain's trust but also her sympathy.

The turning point in their relationship occurred when Jain stumbled upon the truth of Mir's real identity. Faced with her confrontations, Mir, described by Jain as a "skilled manipulator," pleaded with her, claiming he concealed his Muslim identity out of fear of rejection and professed his deep love for her. His manipulative prowess was such that he convinced her to overlook the deceit and consent to a Nikah, promising a future together built on newfound honesty.
The victim, Anna Jain, has shared a deeply troubling account of her relationship with Aquib Mir, detailing an escalating pattern of deceit and coercion. According to Jain, the relationship took a darker turn as Mir's manipulative tactics intensified. "He manipulated my trust over several months," she stated. Jain’s revelation of his real identity didn’t bring clarity but further entrapment as Mir used emotional manipulation, professing he hid his true Muslim identity due to a "profound love" for her and the fear of rejection, which ultimately convinced her to consent to a Nikah with him.
The manipulation did not end with emotional deceit. As their relationship deepened, Mir proposed marriage, promising to take care of her son. When Jain initially resisted the proposal, Mir resorted to threats, asserting he would harm her son if she refused to marry him. The threats extended to her family; he warned her mother that her grandson's life was at stake if she did not persuade her daughter to accept the marriage proposal.
Feeling cornered and fearing for her son's safety, Jain described herself as helpless and mentally incapacitated to make rational decisions. In a particularly alarming episode, Mir took both her son and mother to his house in Bathandi under the guise of resolving the situation. He presented them with documents to sign, which they did not understand, as they were written in Urdu. Only later did Jain discover that these documents were a Nikahnama—a Muslim marriage contract.
Compounding the deception, 15 days after signing the Nikahnama, Jain, under duress and the continued pretense of securing her son's future, sold her jewelry worth Rs 42 lakhs. She used Rs 32 lakhs from this sale to buy property, which she was led to believe would protect her son's financial interests. Unbeknownst to her at the time, the transaction was manipulated by Mir, who directed the payment to the property dealer.

She described how the situation took a "horrifying turn" as Mir's genuine intentions became evident. She stated, "He emotionally blackmailed me and coerced me to give him my savings and sell my jewelry valued between Rs 40 to 50 lakhs to purchase property," highlighting a pattern of exploitation aimed at draining her financially.
Once Jain's financial resources were depleted, she reported that Mir's behavior shifted dramatically towards regular physical abuse. During this tumultuous period, she uncovered further deceit in Mir's actions; he was allegedly engaged with multiple women, predominantly Hindus and Jains, ensnaring them with a similar strategy of deceit. According to Jain, "Posing as a 'nationalist Muslim,' he feigned support for the BJP and Indian nationalist ideologies to win the trust of these women," which suggests a calculated approach to manipulation and betrayal.
Amidst these allegations, Mir publicly addressed the accusations on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing the notion that his actions were part of 'love jihad,' a term used in India to refer to alleged campaigns by Muslim men targeting women belonging to non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam via marriage. Mir contended, "It is not a case of love jihad as people are saying on social media. Instead, it is a case of property dispute, and the police are currently investigating the matter," attempting to reframe the narrative amidst growing scrutiny.
Further exacerbating the distressing revelations, Jain accused Mir of forcing her into physical relations, alleging that he boasted about similar relationships with other women. On a particularly confrontational occasion on 23rd April, when Jain demanded that a building be transferred to her name, Mir's response starkly revealed his exploitative intent: “Do you think that I am in love with you? I wanted money and that I got. Now shut up otherwise I will kill you”. He also imposed oppressive conditions on her, demanding she adhere to specific behavioral and dress codes typical of conservative norms, "Stay within your limits. Wear a hijab. Do house chores. Otherwise get out.”
|
She disclosed that the property transactions were a façade, part of a plan concocted by Mir and the property dealer to swindle her. "Later she came to know that Aquib Mir and the property dealer planned to dupe her of the money," she recounted, revealing financial losses not just limited to property investments. Jain stated that beyond the 32 lakhs paid for the property, Mir had siphoned an additional 10 lakhs for what he claimed were his personal expenses.
The realization of Mir's betrayal escalated tensions within their domestic life, which began to crumble shortly after their marriage. Jain narrated that the frequent disputes started a few days following the Nikah, triggered by Mir receiving constant calls from other women. In a telling incident, Jain answered one of these calls, only to learn from the woman on the line that Mir had been with her the previous day. This confrontation led to a physical assault by Mir, an act of violence that Jain said was fortunately captured on CCTV, leading to his eventual capture.
On social media, Mir portrayed himself as a secular individual, but Jain's experiences painted a starkly different picture. She recounted how he enforced strict religious codes within the household, coercing her to abandon her Hindu faith and practices: "He would tell her not to worship Hindu Gods and wear hijab." Mir’s control extended into outright demands for her to convert to Islam, intensifying the domestic abuse when she resisted or questioned his fidelity.
The situation reached a breaking point as Mir's infidelities became more frequent and his abusive behavior more severe. Jain described a cycle of violence that would ensue whenever she dared to confront him about his relationships with other women. Eventually, the oppressive environment and relentless abuse became unbearable, prompting Jain to leave Mir’s house, marking the end of her harrowing ordeal with him.
Reflecting on her tumultuous personal history, Jain shared that her first marriage was in 2009. She left her first husband in 2019 due to unresolved issues, only to find herself entangled with Mir, from whom she has now also painfully separated. This sequence of events underscores a prolonged period of suffering and manipulation that Jain endured, culminating in her decisive escape from a dangerously abusive situation.

The Controversial Figure: Aaqib Mir and His Tumultuous Involvement with the BJYM
Aaqib Mir, once a figure associated with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir, found his political career in jeopardy following serious allegations. In 2019, Mir was expelled from the BJP after multiple complaints surfaced against him from women supporters, marking a significant downturn in his political journey. Despite his removal, Mir controversially continues to assert his membership with the BJP, creating confusion and drawing criticism.
The allegations against Mir extend beyond political disputes; they delve into serious personal misconduct. Sonia Sisodia, an active X user (formerly Twitter), has been vocal about Mir's alleged violent behavior towards his Hindu wife, supporting her claims with evidence from CCTV footage. This footage purportedly captures an instance of Mir assaulting his wife, an act that has been widely condemned by the public and led to further scrutiny of his actions.
Sisodia's accusations on social media highlight a pattern of alleged abuse and manipulation by Mir, especially towards women BJP supporters. Despite her efforts to bring these issues to light over the past 2-3 years, she suggests that the party initially overlooked Mir's behavior, considering him an important Muslim voice from the region. This perceived leniency has been a point of contention, especially as Sisodia continues to face online harassment from right-wing trolls, incited by Mir's provocative labeling of her as a 'Terrorist.'
Further complicating Mir's troubled profile are his financial dealings. He received a notice from the bank concerning fraudulent activities involving loans amounting to ₹50 lakh. In response to these allegations, Mir attempted to deflect the focus by disparaging Sisodia, exacerbating the public and legal backlash against him.
The legal troubles for Mir have escalated, with an FIR registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 376 (rape), 420 (fraud), 400 (banditry), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). These charges reflect the gravity of the accusations against him and the broad spectrum of his alleged criminal activities.
As the case unfolds, Mir is reportedly absconding but continues to engage actively on social media platforms like X, maintaining a presence that is both controversial and provocative.

BJP Disqualifies Eight Leaders for 'Anti-Party Activities' in J-K in 2019, Including Aaquib Mir
In a decisive move to uphold party discipline, the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit took stringent action in 2019 against eight of its party leaders. This action was necessitated by these leaders' decision to file nominations as Independents in direct opposition to the official BJP candidates for the upcoming Block Development Council (BDC) elections, slated for October 24 of that year. A party spokesperson provided details of these disqualifications during a press briefing.
The controversy surrounding these nominations led to significant repercussions within the party's youth wing as well. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) found itself compelled to address similar issues of indiscipline. In a related development, Aqib Mir, then serving as the state secretary of the BJYM, was removed from his role. The reason cited for this dismissal was a "breach of party discipline," underscoring the party's commitment to maintaining strict adherence to its codes and conduct.
The BJP spokesperson elaborated on the actions taken against the involved party leaders. "Taking strong note of the filing of nominations as Independents by party leaders against the official candidates of the BJP for the BDC elections, the state BJP has disqualified them for indulging in anti-party activities," he explained. This decision was not taken lightly but was seen as necessary to preserve the integrity and unity of the party.
He further stated, "They have been disqualified from the active membership of the party with immediate effect," marking a clear and immediate end to their association with the party in any official capacity. This step was part of broader efforts by the BJP to ensure that all its members align with the party’s strategies and directives, particularly during critical electoral processes like the BDC elections.
These measures reflect the BJP's stringent internal governance mechanisms, designed to handle breaches of discipline and ensure that all members act in a manner that supports the party's overall objectives and electoral commitments.
