In a twist of irony, Mona Hingu, a nail art artist, 'nailed' her own performance, painting the streets of Vadodara with chaos, even in a dry state, some still find a way to 'wet' their spirits, challenging not just the law, but also the hands that enforce

VADODARA, Gujarat: The quaint city of Vadodara recently witnessed an incident that has many tongues wagging and eyebrows raised. In an unforeseen turn of events, and in a place where alcohol is stringently prohibited, a woman was detained for locking horns with the police under the spell of intoxication.
Yes, you read that right. In the state of Gujarat, where the sale and consumption of alcohol has been outlawed, a woman was found "under the influence," to put it lightly. While it may be tempting to smirk at the irony of someone consuming alcohol in a dry state, the situation quickly escalated beyond mere laughter.
A bystander with a keen sense for capturing sensational moments took out their phone and filmed the event. The video that emerged from this encounter has since gone viral, making rounds on various social media platforms. This clip provides a crystal-clear view of the woman, who seems to be in high spirits, hurling abuses, and going to the extent of physically engaging with the cops. A scene that's almost straight out of a dramatic movie sequence, the woman, unperturbed by the number of uniformed men around her, can be seen attempting to land a hit or two.
But here's the kicker. The state, renowned for its commitment to maintaining its status as "dry," seems to have clandestine channels through which the forbidden nectar flows. It raises an eyebrow or two about the effectiveness of the ban. If one were to inject a touch of satire, one could imagine that perhaps she was simply celebrating the secret empowerment of women, manifested in the form of surreptitious sips in a prohibition state.

Detention under the Stars
In an evening tinged with unexpected drama, a woman was detained by the vigilant Vadodara police. Her crime? Driving under the influence of alcohol, a substance supposedly unattainable in the state due to its prohibition status. But that wasn’t the end of her transgressions. This spirited lady didn’t merely stop at driving intoxicated; she added assaulting the police to her list of infractions. A case, now registered, is set to navigate its way through the annals of Gujarat's legal system, marking her unexpected tryst with the law.
This particular evening took a turn for the dramatic when traffic police, who have amped up their vigilance after a tragic accident at Ahmedabad's ISKCON bridge, decided to stop the woman for a routine check. Night had draped Vadodara, but for the police, it was business as usual near Gotri Gokul Nagar.

An Unexpected Brawl
As her car came to a halt, the initial findings were clear - she was inebriated. A female officer, adhering to protocol, approached the vehicle, asking the driver to step out for a more detailed inspection. But what could have been a straightforward procedure quickly snowballed into an altercation.
Instead of compliance, the officer was met with fury and a volley of abuses. The situation escalated, with the woman, in her spirited state, attempting to land blows on the female officer. Displaying remarkable restraint and professionalism, the officer tried to pacify the belligerent driver, urging her to remain calm. But tranquility wasn't on the cards that night. Another twist awaited as the woman, seemingly uncontrollable in her rage, slapped a male officer present at the scene.
In the midst of all this, one can't help but reflect on the irony. A state that prides itself on its strict prohibition laws was the stage for such a spectacle. It might just serve as a satirical nod to empowerment, albeit in an inebriated, disorderly fashion. After all, in the quest for women's rights and empowerment, this probably wasn't the kind of "strike" people had in mind.

Update | In the midst of the chaos, the Vadodara police had to resort to seeking assistance from female constables. Despite the efforts of male officials on the scene, it was apparent that they were finding it challenging to defuse the situation with the agitated woman. Media outlets later identified the woman as Mona Hingu, painting a picture of her driving behavior as reckless.
On the particular evening of Saturday, August 26, 41-year-old Mona Hingu found herself ensnared in a drink-and-drive quagmire. When the female constables, joined by their police officer counterparts, questioned her - both about the origins of the alcohol she consumed (given Gujarat's stringent prohibition laws) and her recent whereabouts - Hingu's response was far from cooperative. Instead, her demeanor turned confrontational, leading her to allegedly misbehave with the officers on duty. The incident culminated in her arrest.
Once the initial uproar had been addressed, with Hingu safely ensconced in the police jeep, further details began to emerge. During her interrogation, Hingu disclosed that she had been returning from a liquor-infused party on Bhayli road, located in the Vasana area. With her professional life anchored in the domain of nail artistry, this episode stands out as an aberration. However, the ramifications are serious, with Hingu now facing charges related to intoxicated driving and causing a public disturbance.
