On being informed about the incident, the local police rushed to the spot and recovered the severed heads and torsos of the deceased and took them to Madhepura for postmortem, police said.
Angry over the incident, family members of the victim blocked NH-107 for several hours at Chandni Chowk Godhaila village, demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrator. However, the blockade was later lifted after assurance by the senior police officials of stern action against the accused. Police claimed the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.
Police sources said he was earlier thrashed by his in-laws and he had threatened to commit murders and surrender before the police. "Police have detained Alam's mother and his stepbrother to know his whereabouts," said Rajesh Kumar, Madhepura SP.
According to a report by ETV Bharat, the police sources have said that Mohammad Jibril Alam committed this crime because he suspected that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship. A letter stained with blood was found on the spot.
The police sources have also claimed that Mohammad Jibril Alam was thrashed by his in-laws some days ago and he had threatened at that time of killing his wife and surrender to the police. The police have arrested the mother and stepbrother of the killer. Further investigation is going on in this case.
Of course, people are disgusted with such frequent brutality by a peaceful community, one Jayant Singh @JayantS09657814 wrote, "Disgusting. Guess growing up slowly killing animals in the name of Qurbani totally desensitizes you to blood & killing. While I would like to think that most in the civilized world find the very thought of a killing revolting they r used to it."
