Unfolding the Brave Tale of Lady Singham: IPS Mamta Singh

Mamta Singh, an IPS officer, is being hailed as a heroine, a beacon of courage, a shining light in dark times. She is renowned for her bravery and unwavering commitment, especially in the face of adversity. The recent events that have unraveled in the Nuh district of Haryana have put her bravery and resolve in the spotlight. Mamta Singh is famously known for her daring actions and has received an array of accolades, enhancing the honor and reputation of the police department.

Singh's decision to prioritize a career in the police force over her ongoing medical studies has indeed been a pivotal moment. This choice led her down a path that resulted in her receiving accolades and recognition from none other than the President of India. The Supreme Court of India, too, applauded her for her exceptional efforts in upholding human rights during challenging operations. Amid the chaos and violence, Singh's unyielding spirit led her to rescue hostages and maintain law and order, reinforcing her image as a beacon of courage and dedication.

Horrors of the Nuh Mewat Riots

On the morning of July 31st, a peaceful Hindu procession, traversing the streets of Nuh district, Haryana, was brutally attacked by a rampaging Muslim mob. The incident was shockingly savage as it unfolded, with horrifying scenes of stone-pelting, arson, and looting perpetrated by the mob. Hindus were forced to take shelter in local temples and police stations as a hailstorm of stones descended upon them. Vehicles were set ablaze, shops were looted and public property was destroyed indiscriminately. Shockingly, even the police stations did not escape the wrath of the mob.

In the blink of an eye, the violence escalated and expanded beyond Nuh, infiltrating the tranquil suburbs of the neighboring Gurugram. With each passing moment, the panic and terror escalated as the mob showed no signs of stopping their rampage.

The reality of the violence was captured in countless video clips, which flooded the corridors of social media platforms, reflecting the sheer terror of that day. However, in an astounding display of biased reporting, leftist-communist media platforms such as Maktoob, Wire, etc., and international media agencies including the BBC, Reuters, DW, and CBS, are engaging in a deplorable narrative, misreporting the incident as a riot instigated by Hindus who torched a mosque.

The onslaught of violence also targeted the very forces that were assigned to maintain peace. Two brave home guards lost their lives and approximately a dozen police officers sustained injuries in the chaos. The mob, unabated, attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession, escalating the situation from bad to worse.

As the violence spiraled, protesters barricaded roads, causing hours of disruption. Among the injured officers were Hodal's deputy superintendent of police, Sajjan Singh, who was shot in the head, and an inspector who sustained injuries to his stomach. Both were grievously wounded, and the day's violence left in its wake a trail of horror, pain, and destruction that the people of Haryana will remember for a long time.

The riots in Haryana's Nuh district have been a testing ground for Singh's courage and leadership. She led the police team in their brave effort to free hostages during the violent disturbances. The chaos in Nuh resulted in the unfortunate demise of at least four individuals and caused injuries to forty-five others when communal clashes broke out unexpectedly. These violent clashes saw mobs throwing stones and setting vehicles ablaze during a religious procession.

The crucial information about the location and situation of the people being held hostage was relayed to Singh by the Haryana Home Minister. Upon receiving this critical information, she immediately swung into action. Along with her team, she promptly reached the troubled spot and within a few hours, succeeded in freeing the victims.

IPS Mamata Singh emerged as a key figure during the recent turbulence in the Nuh district. Home Minister Anil Vij, deeply worried about a potential conspiracy amid these violent events, received alarming information about a group of people held captive in a temple. Showing great presence of mind, Vij immediately forwarded the Google location of the hostages to Singh and other police officials. Responding to this urgent call, Singh courageously led the police force into action and successfully rescued the captives from the reported location.

Delving into Mamta Singh's Journey

Mamta Singh, a part of the 1996 batch of IPS officers, currently serves as the ADG in Haryana Police. She had a challenging choice to make while she was still a medical student - to continue her path in medicine or to serve the society as a police officer. Her drive to serve the people of her state led her to choose the latter.

President Droupadi Murmu recognized Singh's bravery and exceptional service in the police department and awarded her with a medal on Republic Day. This recognition raised Singh's status within the department. Her dedication towards establishing an efficient intelligence network, which has been successful in busting several crimes and apprehending criminals, is particularly noteworthy.

The Supreme Court of India also expressed appreciation for Singh's dedicated service to the state. She has played an instrumental role in several cases brought before the Human Rights Commission, further exemplifying her commitment to the cause of justice and order.

The Supreme Court Praises Mamta Singh's Work

The Supreme Court extended its commendation for IPS Mamata Singh's outstanding work. After her induction into the police service, she contributed significantly to various investigations handled by the Human Rights Commission. This earned her high praise from the apex court. Her efforts in dealing with human rights violations during operations in various locations such as Nandigram (West Bengal), Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, Bastar, and Anakonda (Chhattisgarh) were particularly noteworthy.

IPS Mamata Singh continues to distinguish herself as an extraordinary officer, dedicated to upholding justice and protecting human rights. Her unwavering courage and commitment have set her apart as a role model within the police department, inspiring future generations to follow her path.

The Aftermath: Nuh, Haryana

In the aftermath of the violent incidents, paramilitary forces conducted a flag march in Nuh. A curfew was imposed following the violent clashes that had created a hostile environment in the state. The streets lay deserted, a stark contrast to the usual hustle and bustle of the district.

To prevent any disruption to peace and public order in the aftermath of the communal clashes, mobile internet and SMS services were suspended till August 5. These services have now been partially restored for three hours, starting from 1 pm on Thursday. Besides Nuh, services were also interrupted in Faridabad, Palwal and the territorial jurisdiction of sub-division Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of Gurugram district.

The Haryana government made the decision to relax the internet suspension to aid candidates appearing for the Haryana CET 'Group C exam'. This move was intended to help them download their admit cards. Varun Singla, SP Nuh, shared that no fresh violence has been reported since the initial incident. Forces have been deployed in all areas, with around 14 companies of the central paramilitary forces called in from outside. Additionally, 21 companies of the Haryana Police have been deployed for maintaining vigilance day and night. The situation is gradually returning to normal. In the last 24 hours, four fresh FIRs have been registered, demonstrating the ongoing efforts to restore peace and justice in the district.
