"Redefining doorstep delivery with a floating touch!": Amazon introduces its first ever revolutionary 'floating space' store on Dal Lake, Srinagar, enjoy seamless deliveries and empower local businesses with the 'I Have Space' initiative

Amazon, the giant online shopping platform, is taking a groundbreaking step by launching its very first 'floating space' store on the picturesque Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. This exciting announcement brings a whole new dimension to convenience and accessibility for customers in the region.
|
The unique floating store concept will be part of Amazon India's 'I Have Space' initiative, which aims to enhance the delivery experience for customers and empower local businesses with additional income opportunities.
The company has teamed up with Murtaza Khan Kashi, the owner of the houseboat 'Selec Town,' based in Srinagar. As an 'I Have Space' partner, Murtaza will facilitate deliveries to Amazon customers living on and around Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake.
This development comes as a boon to hundreds of customers who reside and operate businesses on the two beautiful lakes.
Previously, these customers faced challenges when it came to receiving their packages. They had to rely on shikaras (traditional Kashmiri boats) or nearby shops to collect their orders from the shores of the lakes. With Selec Town now onboard, Murtaza will ensure that packages are delivered to customers' houseboats every day, right at their doorstep.
Karuna Shankar Pande, the Director of Amazon Logistics, India, expressed enthusiasm about this pioneering venture. He mentioned that this floating 'I Have Space' store would greatly enhance the delivery process for customers in Srinagar, making it more efficient and faster.
Moreover, it demonstrates Amazon's commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for individuals and bolstering its delivery network with innovative capabilities.

For Murtaza Khan Kashi, the houseboat owner, this collaboration presents an excellent chance to supplement his seasonal income from tourism in Srinagar. Running a houseboat incurs high costs, and additional income sources were becoming a necessity for his family.
Discovering Amazon's 'I Have Space' program turned out to be a perfect fit for him. Not only does it allow local store owners like Murtaza to earn extra income, but it also enables them to utilize their free time effectively. By using his shikara to deliver packages to Amazon customers, Murtaza can now generate additional revenue.
Amazon's 'I Have Space' program, launched in 2015, has been a game-changer for small local stores and business owners. By partnering with them, Amazon India facilitates last-mile deliveries to customers residing within a 2 to 4 kilometers radius of these stores.
|
This not only benefits customers who receive prompt deliveries but also provides earning opportunities for local businesses. Presently, the program boasts more than 28,000 neighborhood and kirana partners across approximately 420 towns and cities in India.
The decision to establish a floating space store on Dal Lake highlights Amazon's commitment to exploring innovative ways to serve its customers better.
Srinagar, with its natural beauty and vibrant tourism, makes for a unique location for such an initiative. With the 'I Have Space' program gaining traction and success, Amazon India continues to bridge the gap between customers and local businesses, fostering economic growth and delivering smiles across the breathtaking Dal Lake. As this pioneering project sets sail, one can only imagine the limitless possibilities for Amazon's future endeavors in providing exceptional service and experiences to customers, even in the most unconventional locations.
