The mythology of every land is a mirror to its culture, tradition, ethos and the psyche of its people. The tales and legends contained in great epics are not only educative and entertaining, but also serve as a lesson to educate past, present and future generations on cultivating and maintaining values, morals and, in general, becoming a better person.

Advocacy organisation Legal Rights Protection Forum has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHWF) seeking to revoke the medical practitioner license granted to Indian Medical Association’s President Johnrose Austin Jayalal who openly confessed his intentions to convert non Christians in Bharat. It has also sent a complaint to the Home Ministry seeking to cancel IMA’s FCRA license as Jayalal has made it clear that he has been using the organisation to further his agenda.

It is believed that Kambala originated almost 500 years back among the farming community of coastal Karnataka. The festival is purely dedicated to Kadri's Lord Manjunatha, who was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the celebrations happen to please the Gods for good harvest. The festival which can last for 24 hours, attracts up to 50,000 people a year. It is a gathering or an attraction which excites the people living in the area.

Swami Omkarananda was born in 1956 in a village near Coimbatore to Vaidhyanatha Ganapadi and Alamelu Ammal. It was a family of traditional Vedic scholars and hence naturally poor. Goshteswara Sharma was the name given by his parents and he grew up mastering Vedic recitation and rituals.

Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of the Maurya dynasty which ruled the ancient kingdom of Magadha from around 321 BC to 185 BC.

Chandragupta Maurya can also be said to be the foremost of the ancient Indian rulers who ruled over the maximum amount of known territory in Bharatvarsha (India). His territories extended from present-day Afghanistan-Pakistan to the southern Indian state of Karnataka and right up to the east as far as Bengal and Assam.

Bhagwan Adi Shankaracharya (Adi Shankara) walked the earth at a time when Hindu Dharma was being challenged by Jain, Buddhist faiths, and other avedic (non-Vedic) faiths totaling 72. He is credited with having reformed and revived Hindu Dharma. He propagated Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy). He also unified Bharat by spreading his Vedic teachings across the length and breadth of Bharatvarsh.

In Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal taluk, a historian has erected a museum in the memory of a 16th-century warrior queen. The man behind the museum, called Tulu Baduku Museum, is Prof. Thukaram Poojary and his subject is Rani Abbakka Chowta of Ullal.

Born in the village of Chondi in Jamkhed, Ahmednagar, Maharani Ahilyabai or as she was fondly referred to Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar was the Holkar Queen of the Malwa kingdom. Her father, Mankoji Rao Shinde, was the Patil (chief) of the village. Despite women’s education being a far cry in the village, her father homeschooled her to read and write.

One thing that the Bengal political violence has exposed is the inability of the Bharatiya state to protect its own citizens, even in times of political stability. In times of political instability, insurgency or even religious conflict, the Bharatiya state’s inability to protect its citizens is well-documented. This certainly does not mean that the Republic of Bharat cannot protect itself and its integrity from external threats. The armed forces are well trained but won’t act against Bharatiya citizens and even if deployed, do not come into picture until most of the damage is done.
